National Conference on the Green Climate Fund-Validation of Draft Maldives GCF Country Programme and National Designated Authority NDA Procedures, began at National Art Gallery this morning.
The Ministry of Environment of the Maldives is the National Designated Authority (NDA) of the Government of the Republic of Maldives to the Green Climate Fund (GCF). At present, the GCF represents the largest international source of finance for climate change mitigation and adaptation projects and allows for a large degree of country ownership in identifying, proposing and implementing such projects.
The present project “GCF Readiness and Preparatory Support for Establishing and Strengthening National Designated Authority (NDA) and Developing Strategic Framework for Engagement with GCF in the Maldives” implemented in partnership with UN Environment with support from the GCF aims at developing key operational procedures of the NDA to allow for smooth and effective cooperation with the GCF. The project also aims at elaborating the Maldives first GCF Country Programme which is expected to include the Maldives initial project pipeline to be financed by the GCF over the next 3-5 years.
