Certificates were awarded to the winners of World Water Day Photo Contest 2017, at a ceremony held at the Ministry this afternoon. The photo contest was held on occasion of World Water Day 2017 under the theme “Why Waste Water?”. The main objective of this photo contest was to highlight the importance of water resource management. This photo contest was also held in other 06 countries.
In this photo contest, 45 photographs from 18 participants were presented to the Ministry and the photographs were judged by 03 experts of the field.
In the photo contest held in Maldives, Mr. Mohamed Yaasif won the first place and Mr. Hussein Niyaz won the second place while Ms. Fathimath Hamdha won the third place in this photo contest. Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim distributed the certificates and prizes to the winners.
Winner 1st place: Mr. Mohamed Yaasif
Winner 2nd place: Mr. Hussein Niyaz
Winner 3rd place: Mr. Fathimath Hamdha
Among the photographs presented to the photo contest in the 06 countries, the participants who presented the best two photographs would also have a chance to participate in the “World Water Week” to be held in Sweden in September 2017.
The photo contest was held with the initiative of Global Environment Facility (GEF) project.
