The Second stakeholder consultation workshop on the project “Enhancing National Development through Environmentally Resilient Islands – ENDhERI” has been held today. This is a project implemented by Ministry of Environment financed by Global Environment Facility (GEF) and assisted by UN Environment with the objective of enhancing reef protection, resilience and ecosystem recovery by reducing development impacts in Laamu Atoll, enabled for replication nationally through public awareness and integrating the values of marine biodiversity and other natural capital in national accounts.
At the opening ceremony of the workshop a statement was given by State Minister for Environment Dr. Abdulla Naseer. In his statement, he highlighted the importance of conservation of Maldives biological diversity and the importance of the coral reef ecosystem.
