A national trust fund directing public, tax, and partnership revenue toward protecting the natural environment of the Maldives.
The Maldives Green Fund (MGF) was established on 6 January 2019 as a national trust fund of the Government of the Republic of Maldives.
The fund pools national budget allocations, Green Tax revenue, contributions from the private sector and international partners, and revenue collected from protected areas — directing all of it toward environmental management, climate action, awareness, and protection of the natural environment.
The Steering Committee oversees disbursement and reports periodically to the Cabinet. Annual statements of the fund are published publicly.
