5 Million Tree Planting Program Event Held in AA. Mathiveri

As part of the 5 Million Tree Planting Program launched by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, a special tree-planting event was held in AA. Mathiveri.

The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy and the Mathiveri Island Council to help protect the island's environment and promote a greener, healthier community.

During the event, various species of trees suitable for the Maldivian environment were planted across different areas of the island. These included both shade trees and fruit-bearing trees.

The 5 Million Tree Planting Program is a key government initiative aimed at addressing the impacts of global climate change while making the Maldives greener, more environmentally sustainable, and more pleasant to live in.

The event in Mathiveri was attended by heads of island institutions, council members, and members of the public, all of whom participated in the tree-planting activities.

According to the Mathiveri Island Council, the project is expected to bring significant environmental benefits to the island. The council also emphasized that the continued care and maintenance of the newly planted trees will require the cooperation and support of the community.

The government's goal is to plant five million trees across the Maldives over the next five years, contributing to a more resilient and sustainable future for the country.
