Minister Ali Shareef and MFLC Managing Director Discuss Climate Finance Initiatives

Minister Ali Shareef and the CEO and Managing Director of Maldives Finance and Leasing Company (MFLC), Ibtishama Ahmed Saeed, met today to discuss sustainable investments and the expansion of climate finance aimed at mitigating the impacts of climate change in the Maldives.

During the meeting held today, extensive views were exchanged on potential areas of collaboration to secure the financial resources necessary to overcome climate risks facing the Maldives and to invest in environmentally friendly projects.

Specifically, the Minister and CEO discussed expanding the role of the private sector to promote sustainable economic growth in the Maldives, as well as facilitating easier access to financial assistance for eco-friendly businesses.

Highlighting MFLC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the Maldivian financial sector, Managing Director Ibtishama Ahmed Saeed assured that the company would continue to support projects that prioritize environmental protection in the future.
