Agreements signed to establish nurseries in 10 islands: A major step forward for the 5 Million Tree Project

The 5 Million Tree Project is a pledge made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to plant five million trees within five years. This project was officially launched on World Environment Day 2024. To date, pledges for over 5.8 million trees have been received, and more than 1.6 million trees have already been planted. The target for the current year, 2026, is to plant an additional one million trees. Under this project, special priority will be given to developing infrastructure to ensure the sustainability of the tree-planting efforts.

As part of the Five Million Tree Project initiated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, agreements were signed today to provide grant assistance to councils for the establishment of nurseries across the Maldives.

In this regard, the President has placed a special emphasis on developing nurseries throughout the country, and agreements were signed with 10 islands during the first round of this initiative.

The 10 islands included in the first round of this project are:

3. N. Kendhikulhudhoo
4. R. Innamadhoo
5. B. Maalhos
6. AA. Mathiveri
7. M. Mulah
8. Th. Kinbidhoo
9. GA. Dhaandhoo
10. GDh. Thinadhoo City
