Discussions Held with HDC to Launch Major Tree Planting Initiative in Hulhumalé

As part of the national initiative to plant five million trees, launched under the leadership of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, a consultative meeting was held today with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to organize a large-scale tree planting event in Hulhumalé.
The meeting focused on strategic planning for activities scheduled to take place in Hulhumalé under this landmark government program, which aims to protect the environment and enhance the greenery of the Maldives. Senior officials from the Five Million Tree Planting Project and relevant representatives from HDC participated in the discussions.

Key areas of deliberation included the logistical framework for conducting the extensive tree planting activities across various sectors of Hulhumalé and exploring avenues for collaborative coordination between the two entities to ensure the successful execution of the event.

This project is a vital component of the government's efforts to safeguard the Maldives' fragile ecosystem, mitigate the impacts of climate change, and ensure a verdant and sustainable environment for future generations. Given that Hulhumalé is a rapidly developing urban hub with a significant population, greening the area remains a primary objective of this national project.
