Maldives joins Asia climate technology, energy transition programme in Thailand

Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy Director General Amjad Abdulla and Director General Ahmed Ali are representing the Maldives a joint programme in Thailand that aims to help countries move from climate technology planning to implementation.
The 2026 Joint Programme: NDE Forum and NDE-NDA coordination in Asia organized by the United Nations Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), in cooperation with the Green Climate Fund and the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council of Thailand, will be held from July 7 to 10 at the Pullman Pattaya, Thailand.

The four-day programme brings together National Designated Entities and National Designated Authorities from across Asia to strengthen regional cooperation on climate technology, energy transition and climate finance.
Sessions will cover Asia’s energy transition, emerging energy technologies, artificial intelligence-enabled climate solutions, financing pathways, and institutional coordination between climate technology and climate finance focal points.
The programme will also allow Maldivian representatives to exchange experiences with regional counterparts, engage with technology partners and explore project development pathways that may support the country’s climate resilience and energy transition goals.
