Maldives Participates in South Asia National Ozone Officers Meeting in Bhutan

THIMPHU, Bhutan – The Maldives is participating in the Thematic Meeting of the South Asia National Ozone Officers on HFC Quota and Licensing Systems, taking place from August 4–6, 2026, in Thimphu, Bhutan. The regional event is organized by UNEP OzonAction’s Compliance Assistance Programme for the South Asia Network.

The three-day meeting brings together National Ozone Officers and regional experts to strengthen HFC quota and licensing frameworks in support of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol. During the session, the Maldives delivered a comprehensive country presentation, sharing national progress, experiences, and implementation challenges regarding its HFC quota system. The delegation is actively contributing to regional discussions on trade controls, customs cooperation, data verification, and policy measures designed to support the phase-down of hydrofluorocarbons across South Asia.
