Ministry Presents Biodiversity Roadmap and Marine Protected Area Studies at 6th Maldives Marine Science Symposium

Ministry has participated in the Sixth Maldives Marine Science Symposium, sharing key conservation initiatives and contributing to a major national platform dedicated to marine science, learning, and collaboration.

During the symposium, Director of Protected Areas, Muhusina Abdul Rahman, presented the Maldives 30x30 Roadmap, outlining the nation's strategy for advancing Target 3 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Additionally, Protected Areas Management Analyst, Aishath Amal, presented findings from a comparative analysis of Protected Area Management Effectiveness Assessments (PAMEA) evaluating the Hanifaru Marine Protected Area (MPA), South Ari Marine Protected Area (SAMPA), and Farikede MPA.

Events like the symposium play a vital role in connecting scientific research with policy action, ultimately strengthening ongoing efforts to safeguard the Maldives' fragile marine environment for future generations.
